METAL BUILDING SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
Metal Building Insulation Project
This 40′ × 50′ metal building serves as a combination shop, office, and secure equipment storage space. The owner wanted a more comfortable working environment while reducing rain noise and controlling condensation on the metal roof deck.

The Challenge
Metal buildings can be difficult to keep comfortable when they are used as occupied workspaces. In this case, the owner wanted to reduce the sound of rain hitting the metal roof, control sweating and condensation on the roof deck, and improve year-round comfort.
Because the building also functions as a shop and office, thermal performance and long-term energy efficiency were important considerations.
The Solution
Independent Insulation installed 3 inches of closed-cell spray foam on the roof deck and 2 inches of closed-cell spray foam on the walls.
Closed-cell spray foam creates a dense, continuous insulation layer that helps control air movement and moisture while providing strong thermal performance in a relatively small amount of space.
The additional roof insulation also helps reduce noise from rain striking the metal roof, while the wall application improves air sealing and comfort throughout the building.
